Caroline & Matthew’s Ritz-Carlton Sarasota Beach Club Wedding
Caroline and Matthew’s intimate Ritz-Carlton Sarasota wedding was a sweet celebration of family, summer sun, and a love story that found its way back to where it all began - the beach. The bride and groom gathered with only their closest family at The Ritz-Carlton Beach Club in Sarasota for an afternoon ceremony overlooking the Gulf, followed by an elegant lunch reception inside the clubhouse.
With parents, siblings, children, grandmothers, and even the littlest members of the family all celebrating together, the day felt less like a huge wedding production and more like one beautiful family becoming even more intertwined. Blue-and-white florals, palm trees, bright Gulf Coast sunshine, and a few hilariously adorable flower girls made the whole afternoon feel unmistakably Sarasota.
An Intimate Wedding at the Ritz-Carlton Sarasota Beach Club
The Beach Club was such a beautiful setting for a small daytime wedding. Caroline and her loved ones got ready together inside the clubhouse, with her mom, sisters, grandmother, nieces, and baby moving in and out of the room while everyone finished hair, makeup, dresses, flowers, and all the little details that happen before a ceremony.
With the Florida sun blazing, we photographed the family portraits before everyone took their seat, which allowed the family to enjoy and relax the rest of the afternoon once the ceremony began. The ceremony itself took place outside beneath the wooden pergola, surrounded by lush tropical greenery and incredible blue and white floral arrangements, with the Gulf sparking in the sun just beyond the lawn.
And while Caroline and Matthew were technically the stars of the day, their tiny flower girls couldn’t help but steal the show. Between giving me the silliest poses for portraits and being impossibly cute all afternoon, they brought so much personality and joy to the photographs.
A Family Centered Sarasota Wedding
One of my favorite parts of this wedding was how many generations were gathered together in such an intimate setting. Grandmothers doting on the baby, siblings and cousins sitting around the same tables, children dancing and giggling and showing off, and everyone actually having the time to be present with one another.
After the ceremony, everyone moved inside for cocktails and a formal luncheon. There were heartfelt speeches from Caroline’s father and Matthew, beautiful florals throughout the room, an elegant white wedding cake, and a relaxed afternoon of eating, talking, laughing, and celebrating together.
Because the guest list was intentionally small, there was a calm and closeness to the entire day that can sometimes disappear in a much larger wedding. Nothing felt rushed or overly produced. It just felt personal in the best way.
Beach Portraits With a Little Extra Meaning
During the reception, Caroline and Matthew snuck outside with me for portraits around the property and on the beach.
Photographing them there felt especially meaningful because their first date had also been on the beach. Years later, they were walking onto another stretch of sand; this time as husband and wife.
Those are the details I love knowing as a photographer. A incredible location is amazing on its own, but once it becomes connected to the history of a relationship, the photograph means something completely different. Their beach portraits were not just the obvious thing to do at a Sarasota wedding. They became a beautiful little return to where their story had begun.
Why I Love Photographing Ritz-Carlton Sarasota Weddings
The Ritz-Carlton Beach Club offers such a beautiful combination of polished elegance and quintessential Gulf Coast scenery. You have palm trees, tropical gardens, bright architecture, the lawn, the beach, and indoor spaces all within a relatively small area, which creates so much variety for photographs without pulling a couple away from their celebration for long stretches of time.
For Caroline and Matthew’s wedding especially, I loved being able to move between documentary moments with family, the clean and elegant details of the reception, classic portraits around the property, and then those bright coastal photographs on the beach.
That combination is very much what I love about wedding photography: creating beautiful, intentional photographs while still documenting the people and tiny unscripted moments that made the day theirs.
